Data Warehouse, Data Lake, and Data Silos are three expressions often used when discussing data management. They describe very different situations.
Data Warehouse
A Data Warehouse is a structured environment designed to support analysis, reporting, and business intelligence.
Data Lake
A Data Lake collects large volumes of data, often in raw or semi-structured form, so that they can be processed and analyzed later.
Data Silos
Data Silos are isolated repositories that prevent information from circulating across the organization. They create fragmentation and reduce the value of data.
The goal is not only to store data, but to make it available, connected, understandable, and useful.
