Knowledge Management: Our Model

At R-Tree technologies, we use a Knowledge Management model inspired by the theories of Holsapple and Joshi, who defined the foundations of knowledge management systems.

Types of knowledge

According to this model, we distinguish between two main types of knowledge:

  • Formalized knowledge: knowledge that usually belongs to the organization and can be documented or structured.
  • People’s knowledge: knowledge that often remains available almost exclusively to specific people inside the organization.

The goal of Knowledge Management is to reduce the gap between these two areas, transforming individual expertise into organizational value.

R-Tree helps companies map, preserve, and make this knowledge usable through digital tools, cognitive systems, and search technologies.
